Jour +24: Claude Royer unplugged

Claude has been taken off iv fluids, so he is now free to move around without his pole for a couple of hours every day. Although he is officially still in isolation, he was given the OK to leave his room as long as he wears gloves and a gown. He took a walking tour of the fifth floor today, and I think it did him alot of good to be able to get out of his room after 3 weeks! He has a rash on his neck, which we hope isn't the start of GVHD (graft versus host disease, a condition that occurs when the new immune system sees certain of Claude's antigens as "foreign") -- they are keeping a close eye on it. His white blood cell count was 1.3 today.

YAY, he is UP and AROUND! Glad to hear you can stretch your legs! Big sigh for that, and you're looking pretty good, Claude, glad to see it! Ski Relay went well--I sent you pictures! Next year, you should join us--it was fun and really moving too.

Love to Kate and Emile (BIG BOY--5 now!) and Pascal. Stay healthy, man....

Love, Lori (Nancy is missing in action and is in Acapulco at some preofessional meeting entitiled: "Viral Immune Evasion." Better her than me.

Weee Hello?

Nancy is in Acapulco with internet access with a bunch of nerdy scientists.

It was so great to see Claude's latest picture. I can imagine that getting out of your room was a big lift.

All my thoughts are going to immune cells that are quietly growing, with no special interest in Claude Royer.

Love to everyone.

Nancy

Bien contente de voir que tu peux enfin sortir un peu de ta chambre après 3 semaines assez éreintantes...Profites-en et continue à prendre du mieux....Je pense à toi et je t'embrasse....
